About Wine Tasting at Elgin Ridge
Elgin Ridge lies high on the slopes of a mountain, with fantastic views stretching over the vineyards to reveal the entire Elgin Valley. Elgin Ridge can be found less than an hour from Cape Town in the Elgin Valley, an area surrounded by rocky mountains and filled with lush, green farms. For years this area has been renowned for its apple and pear production, but the past few decades have seen it emerge as a top wine.
Elgin Valley is blessed with cold winters, warm summers and an elevated altitude, conditions ideal for vineyards. A close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean means that when temperatures rise in spring, the cool coastal breezes ensure vines are kept healthy and result in a long ripening period.
“Our philosophy of ‘wine made naturally’ begins in the vineyard and ends in the bottle. We produce only small volumes of wine from organically grown grapes producing as close to perfect fruit and can thus ensure each and every bottle with the Elgin Ridge label truly represents our dedication to quality”.
