Situated in the Overberg region at the southernmost reaches of Africa, De Mond Villa is found within De Hoop Nature Reserve, less than a three-hour drive from Cape Town. The reserve lies in proximity to Arniston, Swellendam, and the Breede River area, offering a remarkable coastal wilderness setting.

Accommodation

Set amid the unspoilt landscapes of De Hoop Nature Reserve, De Hoop Villa provides an exclusive and comfortable retreat for up to six guests. This private-use, three-bedroom residence is generously proportioned, with each en-suite bedroom opening directly onto the surrounding fynbos and natural wildlife environment.

The open-plan living spaces extend onto expansive terraces that feature a private swimming pool and a hot tub, creating an ideal setting to relax, socialise, and absorb the tranquillity of the surroundings. Guests enjoy a fully catered and guided experience, with nourishing meals provided and thoughtfully curated excursions led by experienced field guides.

Whether enjoyed by family or friends, the villa offers a calm and welcoming atmosphere, serving as a refined home base within one of the Cape’s most distinctive wilderness areas.

The villa includes a comfortable lounge with a fireplace for cooler evenings, a dedicated dining area, a boma designed for evening gatherings, a swimming pool, and a kol-kol style hot tub. The interiors are inspired by the surrounding fynbos landscape, and the property offers excellent opportunities for game viewing directly from the villa. It comprises three en-suite bedrooms, each fitted with both baths and showers.

De Hoop Villa is fully catered and guided

Guests are provided with afternoon tea served with cake and snacks, along with two dinners, two breakfasts, and one lunch during their stay. Beverages are for guests’ own account.

A selection of guided experiences is included in the stay, comprising a marine walk, a nature drive, a guided mountain bike outing, and a bird and vlei walk. These activities are arranged as part of the experience and are non-refundable should guests choose not to participate.

On Site Facilities

The Fig Tree Restaurant is a popular dining venue within the reserve and tends to be particularly busy during peak season, so advance reservations are strongly recommended, ideally made upon arrival or the day before. The on-site curio shop offers essentials such as firewood, firelighters, and meat, although its primary focus remains giftware rather than full grocery supplies. Guests may purchase firewood from the curio shop or bring their own if preferred.

Guests can explore the extensive trail network at De Hoop through running, hiking, or mountain biking. The reserve offers five distinct routes ranging from a relaxed 12km option to a more demanding 55km trail suited to experienced and well-prepared adventurers, ensuring a variety of experiences for all fitness levels and interests.
