Self-Catering Accommodation

Located in a riverine setting within the conservancy, the River Cabin allows guests to enjoy the serene ambiance of a forested environment.

The cabin features two A-frame structures: one is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with a sleeper couch and dining area. A distinctive covered walkway, inspired by Japanese torii gates, leads to your spacious bedroom furnished with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basin. This accommodation is designed to offer the pleasures of outdoor living without compromising on comfort and style.

The cabin includes bedding, towels, extra blankets, a seasonal electric blanket, hot water bottles for cooler nights, binoculars, wildlife and tree guides, and various reading materials. Basic supplies such as soap, dishwashing liquid, firewood, firelighters, salt, pepper, filter coffee, sugar, and tea are provided.

Set beside a gently flowing stream, guests can relish the sound of water, the rustling forest canopy, and birdsong while enjoying the privacy of their wood-fired hot tub. There is also a private outdoor braai area and a wood-fired pizza oven next to the hot tub.

Experiences

Southern Yurts is located within the Diepklowe Nature Reserve, also home to Porcupine Hills Guest Farm, which features a small olive farm and nature conservancy. The farm offers a variety of activities, including marked hiking trails, trail running, bird watching (with bird books and binoculars provided), and access to a small farm dam with a canoe and kayak.

Catch-and-release fishing is available at the farm dam, and fishing rods and gear can be rented by prior arrangement. For those wishing to explore further afield, activities such as wine tasting, zip-lining, horse riding, and visiting farmer's markets are all within a 30-minute drive.
