About Field & Tedder Wonderful Things

There is just no missing the blue house on Stanford’s main Queen Victoria Street with an original 1930’s petrol pump parked outside (fully restored and in working condition I might add). Owned by Adel and Sam Field and Vanessa and David Tedder, "Field & Tedder Wonderful Things" certainly lives up to its name, offering a smorgasbord of delightful collectibles and desirable antique pieces.

Truly an eclectic potpourri that reflects the proud Afrikaans, English, South African and Indian heritage of its four owners. From a 75 year old AMI jukebox (mint condition), pin ball machines, a regal rosewood games table, a stunning silver collection, an array of copper pieces, period furniture, desirable Pierneef art, to many sought after photos from the world renowned Ken Beken, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, whose images have earned the eye and awards for Royal Excellence from Queen Victoria.

There is also the mirror that belonged to Prince Albert (who traveled with it to South Africa in 1860 and bequeathed it to a family here on his departure) and as fate would have it, now finds it home at 6 Queen Victoria Street.

This treasure trove promises to beguile all who enter. The Fields & Tedders pride themselves on ensuring every single item in their shop is not the usual run of the mill goodies. Tasteful with an old school vibe, "Field & Tedder Wonderful Things" is one antique shop that you should make a point of visiting.

Walls festooned with classic signs, a giant superman that begs for a selfie, the owners say even if something is not for sale you are more than welcome to make an offer (if something catches your eye) which they will happily consider. And trust me if you are looking for that special piece to bring some charm to your home or a unique gift that comes with history and a story you will find it in this shop.
