About Goudini Winery
Goudini Winery was founded in 1948 which makes it the oldest winery within the Goudini Valley which is a part of the Brredekloof district. The drive there is something to behold as this winery is nestled in the valley beside Rawsonville and amongst the mountains of Du Toitskloof, Hex River, Slanghoek and Langeberg.
The hospitality of this farming community beckons all passersby to come and relax beside the Smalbaar River. The winery was the first one in the region to utilise thermo-flash technology and constantly work to improve their viticultural practices and wine making techniques. In 1948 the first crop of grapes received was around 6080 tons and today 18 farms deliver 20 000 tons of grapes to the cellar. The name Goudini comes from the Khoi words “kg'ou" and "dina" meaning "bitter honey", as it was said that honey made from the local Spoonwood trees tasted quite bitter.
Their range of wines includes red, white, rosé and sparkling wine under the Goudini and Umfiki brands. Umfiki is the Xhosa word for "newcomer" as it is a fairly new addition to their offerings. Come and enjoy something to munch at their Coffee House next to the vineyards.
