About Jason's Hill Private Cellar
At the foot of the Slanghoek Mountain and in the midst of the Slanghoek Valley is Jason’s Hill Private Cellar. One of South African’s first woman winemaker’s, Ivy Du Toit, call this estate home and together with her family has been growing vines and making wines for years.
Their ancestors began this tradition in 1844 and Ivy became interested in wine making from a young age and after multiple harvests overseas decided to begin making her own wine. Her maiden Shiraz was made in an old garage on the farm with grapes from her Dad and barrels she purchased. It didn’t take the world long to notice her talents and in 2003 she was named the Diner’s Club Young Winemaker of the Year in 2003 and Landbou Woman Winemaker of the Year in 2004.
When visiting the estate you can sample Ivy’s award-winning wines in the tasting room or together with a delicious meal at Bistro@Jasons. There are lawns to picnic on and incredible views of the valley. Don’t miss out on the 6,5km hiking trail on the estate and for those that really want to indulge, there’s a Health and Wellness Clinic.
