Flamingo Cottage is located at Fossil Hills on the farm Thornvilla just 3km from the town of McGregor and 1km away from the Donkey Sanctuary, Eseltjiesrus. Here life is slow, tranquil and gentle. Relax in total privacy while enjoying our spectacular mountain views.

Self Catering Accommodation

The Flamingo Cottage has two bedrooms. One room is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. The second room is furnished with two single beds and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. The cottage is fully equipped with bedding and towels, and warm electric blankets during our winter season. You only need to bring your personal stuff for your stay.

The kitchen is fully equipped with basic items (cutlery, plates, glasses, etc). There are also a fridge freezer combo, microwave and a mini kitchen stove. We also provide coffee, tea, sugar and drinking water (5 litre). The open plan kitchen/ sitting area has an indoor braai. There is a TV with DStv and Wi-Fi.

Each cottage has its own private outdoor Kol-Kol hot tub. Imagine yourself soaking in a steaming hot pool on a chilly evening, add a crackling fire, an endless starry sky and a glass of wine …. Or maybe make an early start to your day and enjoy the hot water whilst sipping on a freshly brewed cup of coffee and watching the sun rise on the horizon. We provide 2 bales of wood for free for a kickstart.

Flamingo provides braai facilities and is pet friendly.

There are 2 mountain bikes and fishing rods available for use. The canoes, kayaks and picnic spots at the dam are free to use for our Fossil Hills guest only.

Activities

The area offers many outdoor activities, arts and crafts, tranquillity and relaxation. Surrounded by mountain trails, fruit orchards, olive groves and vineyards, the village has maintained a rural peaceful ambience which is an inspiration to artists.

There are walking/hiking trails, mountain biking, bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, a pottery studio, art galleries, cob house building and enjoyable meals and chats at one of our coffee shops, restaurants or pubs.
