Bergsicht Country Cottages offers cozy, comfortable, country chic self-catering accommodation in Tulbagh on a working farm located 7km on the outskirts of the town. The lovely farm setting is ideal for romantic stays and family breakaways.

Accommodation

Bergsicht Country Cottages farm units each have an indoor fireplace and outdoor wood-fired hot tub (except for Sunburst, which has a standard plunge pool too), so you can make the most of the gorgeous view over the Winterhoek and Witzenberg Mountain ranges.

Our cottages also boast outdoor hot tubs, so you can enjoy a romantic getaway with a private Jacuzzi and full braai facilities at Bergsicht no matter where you stay. The cottages and farm units are comfortably furnished and elegantly decorated with fireplaces to keep the units warm during the winter.

Activities and Attractions

The charming historical town of Tulbagh is situated in the winelands of the Boland. The valley was first discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town itself was developed in 1743 when the first church was built. After the 1969 earthquake, it was decided that Church Street should be restored to its original glory. These 32 buildings now constitute the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa.

Tulbagh is almost completely surrounded by three mountain ranges; the Obiqua Mountains, the towering Winterhoek and the Witzenberg range. There are an abundance of activities in and around the Witzenberg Valley.

The Ceres Golf Club and the Ceres Zip Slide are 30 minutes from Tulbagh, book a scenic tractor ride up the Oudekloof Pass, picnic on one of the nearby farms, go cyling along the scenic routes in the valley, enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting along the Tulbagh Wine Route, test your legs hiking on Murludi Farm, explore the famous Church Street with its National Monuments, have lunch at any of the restaurants in town and visit the Oude Kerk VolksMuseum.
