Tierkloof Dragon Rock is a cottage on a 1200 hectare farm in Ceres about 195km from Cape Town. The cottage enjoys vast views over the Ceres Karoo to the Roggeveld mountains. Distance from artificial lights means that our night skies are crystal clear and offer the perfect conditions for star-gazing.

Self Catering Accommodation

Dragon Rock perches amidst mountain rocks facing out over a picturesque riverbed and the distant plains. Two bedrooms accommodate up to four guests in comfort and style, while a cozy veranda - complete with outdoor double bed for those beautiful crisp and starry nights - opens up onto a large wooden deck containing a sparkling plunge pool and adjacent wood-stove heated pool for those colder days and nights. On the Eastern side of the house is a built-in barbecue and seating area.

With a central open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area flanked on either side by bedrooms and bathroom - itself with a door leading to a stunning outdoor shower area, Dragon Rock offers a compact yet spacious living space with fantastic indoor-outdoor flow. An outside bath, nestled against the rocks, allows for romantic moonlit bathing.

The heated pool requires prior notice of intended use since it takes quite a few hours to warm the water the old fashioned way and we need to get the wood-stove going long before our lucky guests arrive. But all who stay at Dragon Rock will agree that one of life's most utterly pleasurable experiences is to relax, post-arrival from the city and glass in hand, in a heated pool under the immense beauty of the Tankwa night sky.

The well-equipped kitchen includes a fridge, gas stove and oven. The open-plan living area features a comfortable lounge suite, stone faced fireplace and dining area with a table and chairs. The living area opens onto a covered patio with comfortable furniture. The deck boasts outdoor furniture, a swimming pool and a wood-fired heated swimming pool. In addition, the house also has free Wi-Fi and a small Bluetooth speaker.

Please Note

• A high clearance vehicle is a definite advantage.
• We operate on solar thus ironing of bed linen is not possible. We do promise that the linen will be 100% farm fresh! Should you wish to have ironed linen, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Additional Information

As we are self catering and off the beaten track, please be sure that you bring all you need for your stay. The nearest shops are an hour away. We do provide firewood and additional wood can be purchased if required.

We will allow dogs by arrangement only. No dogs are allowed on furniture or in the pools as it causes problems with the solar pump.

Please note that there is no Vodacom Reception. We rely on solar power thus ironing of bed linen is not possible. We do promise however, that it will be Karoo fresh! Should you wish your bed linen to be ironed, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
