Breedekloof Wine Estates

The Western Cape region of the Breedekloof is renowned for its picturesque wine farms, of which there are more than 25. Worcester, the Breede River and Rawsonville are all part of the appeal of this mountainous region. The terroir and weather conditions of this area have proven perfect in the production of a wide range of wines, from Chenin Blanc and Chardonay to Pinotage and Pinot Noir, and everything in-between.

The wine farms themselves are just about as diverse as the wines that they produce, many of which have won awards all over the world. Some are small, others elite, while yet others are huge estates. Some use only the most advanced technology, while others stick more closely to traditional wine-making methods. Thus, visitors get to see the various faces of the wine industry in an all-encompassing sense.

Breedekloof is set against the stunning, quiet backdrop of the Western Cape Winelands. Although relatively isolated, it is only an hour’s drive from Cape Town, affectionately known as the Mother City. Therefore, in the months in which Cape Town is full of tourists, Breedekloof is an ideal base from which to explore it, while escaping the bustle of the big city. It has many guesthouses and bed and breakfast facilities to accommodate tourists all through the year.
