About Plettenberg Bay Country Club
Situated in the gorgeous Garden Route town of Plettenberg Bay is the picturesque Plettenberg Bay Country Club and Golf course. Plettenberg Bay is a firm favourite amongst holiday makers taking a break from the nearby cities of Cape Town or Port Elizabeth and plays host to fine hotels and has an absolute trove of natural beauty to boot.
The parklands course has been built entirely on an incredibly scenic private nature reserve and the eco-sensitive management has eradicated alien vegetation and reintroduced the indigenous flora back into it and thus restoring the natural balance of the area.
The club opened in 1977 and enjoys a successful and festive history and the fantastic work of original designer Robert Hawtree, on the Par 72 18-hole course, has recently been upgraded by “architect extraordinaire” Robert O'Friel to international standards - which have truly set it apart in the region.
Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your hotel or accommodation in Plettenberg Bay and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.
So come and enjoy the lush kikuyu fairways and superb bent greens on offer as well as the complete freedom from the sounds of everyday life, and embrace the game of golf as it was meant to be played – in pure and pristine surroundings. The area teems with wildlife and monkeys, baboons, birdlife (Knysna Loerie, woodpeckers), the occasional bushbuck and deer are commonly found distracting players from their game!
