About Hog Hollow Horse Drawn Carriage Tours
Many of the guest houses, boutique hotels and B&B’s that make up the Garden Route accommodation offering are just a short drive from the beautiful Tsitsikamma and The Crags areas just outside Plettenberg Bay. And this is excellent news for visitors that want to experience the gorgeous countryside with something a little different.
Hog Hollow is a sanctuary for more than 30 rescued horses and offers visitors a fantastic opportunity to enjoy these surrounds on horse-drawn carriage trails. This is a unique way to experience the Garden Route.
There are three different tour packages
Trail One
(30 minutes; 11h00, 12h00, 13h00 and 14h00; Tuesday to Sunday).
This carriage ride is on the beautiful Kay and Monty Wine estate and includes:
• A glass of bubbly on arrival
• Two wine tastings on the horse-drawn carriage
• A delectable snack platter on the carriage
• A stop in the scenic vineyards
Trail Two
(One hour; 11h00, 12h30 and 14h00; Tuesday to Sunday).
This is a slightly longer horse-drawn carriage tour and allows guests to visit two of the local wine farms. The tour includes:
• A glass of bubbly on arrival
• Two wine tastings
• A tasting of olives, olive oil and bread
• An iced tea (honeybush) tasting
• A cellar tour
Trail Three
(Two hours; 11h00 and 13h00; Tuesdays to Sundays)
This is a wine tasting and lunch tour that covers two wine estates and gives visitors the opportunity to sample some moreish flavours. The experience includes:
• A glass of bubbly to start the tour
• Two wine tastings along the way
• A tasting of olives, olive oil and bread
• A tasting of honeybush iced tea
• A tour of the wine cellar
• An irresistible tapas-style lunch with a glass of local wine
The carriage seats 16 passengers and has an elegantly vintage look and feel. The experienced guide is knowledgeable and entertaining. These horse-drawn carriage tours are perfect for a family holiday or a special occasion. Non-alcoholic tours are also available on request.
