Where luxury and peace are to be found in a sweeping river valley, where the views encompass a wetland, winding river and distant mountains and where the call of the Fish Eagle will forever remind you of the vast skies of Africa.

Embracing the southern bank of the Bitou River in Plettenberg Bay, Emily Moon River Lodge is a small, exclusive lodge with accommodation for just twenty guests and four children. There are two family units each having a separate room for two children.

Accommodation

Each luxurious suite is a separate lodge for two people, with their own sitting areas, private viewing decks and spacious, fully appointed bathrooms. The most perfect accommodation in Plettenberg Bay for all who wish to escape to the peace and serenity of nature.

The ten separate luxurious lodges are private, large and sumptuous with a décor one might term as chic African contemporary. Eight of the ten have river and wetland views. Each secluded lodge is individually and stylishly furnished with spacious living area. All lodges have a fully appointed bathroom with under floor heating. Each room is fitted with mini bars and satellite TV. There is a wooden viewing deck and open air showers in some. Rooms have a ceiling fan, plantation blinds, a fireplace and artworks collected from afar.

Indigenous vegetation surrounds the lodge with a completely natural look, although much thought and planning has been given to the positioning of the various flora beautiful and statue like aloes – a few colorful exotics have been added to encourage and host the bird-life. A leafy boardwalk takes you down to the private guest pool and canoes.

We have two pools, one part of the restaurant and the other down a leafy boardwalk, stunningly beautiful and for the sole use of our Emily Moon guests.

ONSITE ACTIVITIES

Our position has a unique outlook over the Bitou Valley and Wetland with the winding Bitou River running through it. Guests are invited to use the canoes for that gentle paddle up the river and for the more strenuous exercise we have mountain bikes which can be ridden in the area or taken to the nearby forest trails. There are many walks to be had on the nearby farm roads and a 2km brisk walk takes one down to the beautiful Keerbooms marshlands where the river meets the sea and its beauty is breath taking!

The river hosts an abundancy of water bird life and with the riverine bush that attracts many species of birds, we would say great for twitches!

We are close to the superb beaches, shops, golf courses and other restaurants and conveniently positioned for covering a large area of the Garden Route. The Emily Moon staff will gladly assist in organising any of the activities in and around Plettenberg Bay.
