The Tsitsikamma is an exquisite part of the Garden Route in South Africa. It is breath-taking in its natural splendour and its abundance in fauna and flora, and continues to be one of the most frequently visited and loved places in the Western Cape. One of the best ways to experience this beauty is on horseback.

Hog Hollow Horse Trails offers locals and visitors the opportunity to smell the fynbos and ferns, to feel the sunshine and to experience the sensation of Africa on their minds and hearts as they venture out into the countryside on one of the well-trained and responsive horses. Travel through the Western Cape and see the forests, mountains and valleys for which the Tsitsikamma is known around the world.

There are a nyumber of trails from which to choose:

Meadow Trail (1 hour)
This takes visitors over beautiful landscapes amongst the sheep and cattle, with backdrops that are nothing short of stunning. This terrain gives riders the ideal opportunity to choose whether they want a restful stroll or a more exhilarating gallop.

Forest and Farm Trail (2 hours)
The ancient rain forests are inviting, and wonderfully scenic to discover. See antelope, monkeys and baboons as you enjoy the soft, sweet scent of the Western Cape vegetation and look out at the surrounding forests and mountains.

Forest and Farm Trail and Picnic Trail (3 hours each)
See the gorgeous tea plantations, meadows, vineyards and forests of the Garden Route on this scenic trail, all under the watchful eye of the Tsitsikamma Mountain Range. To add to the fun, arrange in advance to enjoy a picnic on one of the wine farms.

Cruise the Crags Trail (half- or full-day)
This trail offers the opportunity to see a number of the local tourist attractions as well as the natural splendour of the Garden Route. These attractions include the Tenikwa Wildlife Centre, Bramon Wine Estate, Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary, and Crags Elephant Sanctuary.

Wine Farm Trails
The Crags Wine Route is gaining renown for its lovely wines and unbeatable settings. Explore this on horseback, coupled with tastings and tours of the vineyards for the ultimate outdoors experience. The wine farms include Bramon, Newstead and Redford.

Horse-drawn Carriage Trails
For luxury with a dash of romance, opt to see the stunning mountains, forests and vineyards from the comfort of a 10-seater carriage. Finish it off with a glass of local wine for a day to remember.
