In the heart of the Western Cape, where mountains loom over citrus orchards, lies the picturesque area of Ceres. The best way to enjoy the stunning mountains and valleys that make this part of South Africa so unique is by immersing one’s self in its splendid outdoors.

Ceres Zipline Adventures offers visitors this prime opportunity. The zipline slides (or foefie slides, as they are commonly known in South Africa), take adventurers for the slide of a lifetime over the Koekedouw River in the mountains that surround the scenic Ceres Valley. This region is known for its breath-taking rock formations, formed by the ancient, rugged Skurweberg mountain range of the Western Cape. These make for the ideal backdrops to your ziplining excursion.

Adventurers are kitted out with safety harnesses and are given a lesson in how to operate the patented, state-of-the-art braking system on the lines. Two fully trained and experienced guides will lead the team out into the mountains and will not only make soaring over the ground below fun and exciting, but also interesting. A drink is served during and after the sojourn.

Along the way, magnificent views of Ceres and the Ceres Valley can be savoured. There are eight separate slides, with a total length of 1.4 kilometres. The shortest is 100 metres long, while the longest is an exhilarating 291 metres in length. The highest point is 40 metres above the ground.

Tours take between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the size of the group. They are not weather dependent, and zipliners can be as young as three years old.

The Ceres Zipline Adventure Office is situated at Natuurtuin, at the foot of the historical Michell’s Pass on the R46. Tours depart every hour and bookings are essential on weekends or on the last tour for the day. Ceres is only 90 minutes from the metropolis of Cape Town and her international airport.
