About Clairvaux Wine Cellar
The name Clairvaux is a translation by the French Huguenots of the farm’s original Dutch name, Schoongezicht. Both mean “clear view”, referring to the panoramas of the stunning Western Cape landscape. Although having such a long history, the first official wine farm at Clairvaux was actually only established in the 1930’s.
At this time, sweet wines and bases for brandy were created here. This earned Clairvaux a respected name in the wine-making industry. Today, this gorgeous farm produces much more variety. This includes reds, whites, rosés and sweet dessert wines.
The Clairvaux Cellar is only about 200 metres from the town entrance of Robertson, making it accessible and easy to find.
During your time at Clairvaux, it is recommended that you visit the surrounding area to experience some of the untouched Western Cape beauty. Local sights include the Breede River, Robertson Golf Course, and the huge array of restaurants and wine farms in this region.
