About Worcester Museum

The Worcester Museum is one of cultural history with a strong agricultural focus. The Breede River area has a rich history and this is reflected in the museum collections of Cape colonial history of wagons, furniture, textiles and agricultural tools.

The museum is unique in the sense that is has structures which make up a traditional Cape farm yard and there are a variety of demonstrations you can watch. From Monday to Friday enjoy watching any number of the following: coffee making; candle making; rolling tobacco; bread baking; donkey cart rides; metal work and even soap making. On Saturday afternoon what how bread is made, unfortunately there are no demonstrations on Sundays. If you would like a bit more insight why not request a guided tour, remember these need to be booked in advance.

There is a strong focus on education at this museum with annual programmes focusing on traditions from both farming and household such as sheep shearing, candle making, milking cows and stomping on grapes for wine making.
