The picturesque Rietvallei Wine Estate is one of the oldest wine farms in the Western Cape region of Robertson and is home to a range of wines, most notably its Muscadel. In fact, the Muscadel vine is the oldest of its kind in all South Africa, testifying to the many years of experience in growing this speciality grape that Rietvallei rightly boasts.
Today, the farm is still owned and managed by the original Burger family, who are personally invested in its well-being and the success of its wines. Wines produced at Rietvallei include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, special select Shiraz, special select Sauvignon Blanc, special select Chardonnay and a 1908 Red Muscadel.
Due to the beauty and natural abundance of Robertson, there is plenty to see and do for visitors to the area. These include exploring the region on bicycle or foot, photographing the wonders of nature and indulging in wine tastings and cellar tours of Rietvallei and the many neighbouring wine farms in this area.
