The Blue Butterfly offers Tulbagh accommodation in a beautifully restored, thatched barn at Welbedacht Nature Reserve. The Reserve is just below the magnificent Winterhoek Mountains and offers a tranquil environment, nature walks, an abundance of bird life and flora and spectacular views of the valley.

The Blue Butterfly is a self catering holiday home in Tulbagh sleeping ten guests. There are five en-suite bedrooms each furnished with two single beds and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin.

The large farm-style kitchen has everything required for your self catering stay and has a big dining table where you can enjoy your meals. The spacious lounge has a fireplace, perfect for those chilly evenings.

Outside is a covered veranda with gardens and private braai facilities.

The Area

Just over an hour's drive from Cape Town, in the Tulbagh Valley, Welbedacht Nature Reserve offers an idyllic country retreat. Enjoy game viewing, nature trails, bird watching, swimming in the dam, exploring the labyrinth or a visit from our free roaming horses.

There are mountain biking trails that begin and cross through Welbedacht and beyond, horse riding trails close by and the historic town of Tulbagh with its grand architecture and a range of restaurants and vineyards to visit. With its spectacular valley views, majestic surrounding mountains, wild and beautiful landscapes to explore and tranquil spaces for roaming or resting, a visit to Welbedacht is bound to be a memorable experience.
