About Devonair Wine Estate
Devonair is owned by Leon and Rina de Wit who purchased it in 2003 with the aim of transforming it into a fine boutique wine estate reintroduced winemaking to the farm. 2.2 hectares of the estate is planted to vineyard on a north westerly slope of the Bottelary Mountain. It makes limited amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Rosé wines.
The original vines were taken out and replaced with Cabernet Sauvignon vines after tests were done to determine which grapes suit the soils. Next to the homestead, they planted an olive orchard and extra virgin olive oil is produced annually. Ernst Gouws is in charge of the winemaking and ensures that standards of wines remain top-notch. Devonair has a red wine as its flagship with only Cabernet Sauvignon being produced. A complementary Rosé wine is produced from solely Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
