About Zomerlust Boutique Hotel

Zomerlust, a place of refuge since 1792, is a 15-suite sanctuary on historic Main Road in Paarl, where layered design, garden stillness and fire-led dining come together.

For generations, Zomerlust has been a distinct destination, and now it begins a new chapter that is elegant, unmistakably contemporary and absolutely aligned with its heritage. Here, carefully restored gardens, considered interiors and intuitive hospitality create a rare sense of ease, inviting you to slow down and stay longer than planned.

At Zomerlust, time is suspended from the outside world, and days move gently between poolside stillness and shaded garden paths. Afternoon Tea on the Sun Stoep and as evening settles, the rhythm shifts toward SMEUL, where Chef Kevin Grobler works with fire as it has always been done, drawing out smoke, flame and seasonality to craft his hyper-local and beautifully refined cuisine.

The goal was never to simply preserve heritage. At Zomerlust, it is felt, lived and quietly redefined, creating an environment and experience that stays with you long after you leave and, perhaps more importantly, one you will find yourself wanting to return to.

Accommodation

No two rooms at Zomerlust are the same. Each suite is a layered retreat with boutique details, indulgent bathrooms, and views that draw on the natural surrounds for their character and interior details.

Each room offers a carefully curated collection of comforts, including climate-controlled air conditioning, a flat-screen television with DStv, an in-room safe and seamless Wi-Fi connectivity. Guests are further treated to a complimentary minibar with selected snacks, laundry service, and breakfast at SMEUL Restaurant, where seasonal, fire-inspired dishes set the tone for the day ahead.

The four rooms in Die Stalle are carved from Zomerlust's original horse stables, a charming detached building in our garden, across from our iconic pink pool. Die Stalle is also ideal for families or groups staying together.

Breakfast & Dining

SMEUL Restaurant is situated on the garden level of Zomerlust and is the lair of award-winning chef Kevin Grobler. The à la carte menu is an elegant, considered showcase of local produce and seasonal ingredients, brought to life by flame and fire. SMEUL is open for lunch and dinner daily and is also where hotel residents can enjoy breakfast.

Facilities

Our pool area is a jewel of vibrancy and colour, and the perfect place to soak up the sun and cool off in the summer months. Winter sunny days are a secret joy – may we suggest you head here with a book and a blanket for some Vitamin D and me-time? The pool and pool area are exclusive to hotel guests.

Our carefully restored and reimagined library is a discreet cocoon of comfort and calm filled with books, antiques and charming collectables. Like the hotel, the original architectural features, including doors and windows, have been painstakingly restored to reflect their craftsmanship. Take a seat in front of the fire, enjoy a pre-dinner drink, or sink into a corner of a couch to take a breath. Access to the library is exclusive to hotel guests.

Our ground-floor enclosed balcony is a serene and plant-filled space with views across our gardens towards the Du Toitskloof Mountains. Here, hotel residents are encouraged to enjoy some time out and help themselves to our complimentary all-day coffee, cold beverages, and local alcohol offerings. Join us for complimentary snacks and drinks from 4 pm every afternoon.
