About Lateganskop Wynkelder
Located in the valleys of the Breedekloof, and just off the R43 road leading into Wellington, lies a family owned-and-managed wine cellar with passion at its heart. Built in 1969 by Willem Lategan, remembered by the community as Oupa Willie (Grandfather Willie) who passed away at the valiant age of 102, The Lateganskop Wynkelder has been passed down and is run by five Lategan family members.
Their label “Twins Peak” has been named to honour the twin sons born to Oupa Willie and includes an elegant selection of well-crafted wines comprising of a Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinotage Cinsaut blend barrel matured for eleven months and a golden Hanepoot made from a classic Muscat and has dried fruit flavours. All crafted with passion, patience and practise by expert wine-maker Vlam Fourie who also produces other whitessuch as Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Riesling and Colombar along with the reds Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a Ruby Cabernet available under a different label.
Once the cellar has been upgraded a permanent wine-tasting facility will be installed and open to the public, currently tastings are arranged by appointment only. So go ahead and explore the stunning valley and the vineyards, the Lateganskop Wynkelder team are only too happy to welcome you in.
