The Elandspad River Trail measures seven kilometres and takes about four hours to complete, depending on your fitness levels and the size of your group. It is situated within the Limietberg Nature Reserve near Paarl in the Western Cape. As its name implies, this trail follows the course of the Elandspad River, which has its origins in the Klein Drakenstein Mountains.
The views of the valley and the surrounding mountains are very special, and guarantee stunning photographs and even better memories. There are freshwater pools along the trail and a gorgeous spot to swim near the beginning of the hike. The point at which hikers turn around for their return, known as Fisherman’s Cave, is another popular swimming (and, of course, fishing) spot.
