Why not take a walk along Swartvlei beach, starting at the rivermouth down to Gerickes Point. Here you will often be able to spot the Humpback and Bottlenose dolphins swimming nearby as well as the Southern Right whales which come here between June and October.
Swartvlei Beach is a fantastic place for surfers just starting out or those at a more expert level. Horse riding is very popular along this lovely beach and you will often see people jogging along the waters edge. If you enjoy fishing, this is the ideal place to catch a few. Get your bait and tackle out as there are a couple areas where you may be lucky enough to catch some Moonies and Stompies or the odd Leerie and Cob (season dependant).
There are plenty of safe spots to swim in, away from the stronger currents, making Swartvlei beach great for children too.
