About Noop Restaurant

Noop is an upmarket restaurant based in an old heritage building, along Main Road in Paarl, specialising in a contemporary and trendy menu, without a hint of pretention. Chefs Zian and Mariette keep it local, simple and fresh, basing their daily menu on availability and seasonal ingredients. Meat is personally hand-picked from a butcher in the area, and only Karan beef and venision from the their farm in the Namibian Kalahari and the Karoo is used.

The starter menu is bursting with flavour, but we were drawn to the delightful sushi menu, offering bites of deliciousness, including Tempura Rolls, California Rolls, Salmon Roses, Sashimi and Nigiri – which can all be washed down with Sake and Kirin beer. Starters are mind-blowing, with offerings like Pawns flambeed in tequila; Whole Roasted Duck salad and Slow-roasted oxtail wrapped in spring roll pastry served with Rooibos onion marmalade. For mains, the pizzas look sublime, but it’s the meat dishes that have us all a flutter. With dishes like The Fillet au Poivre, crusted with black peppercorns and flambed with brandy; Mussels, linefish, scallops and prawns poached in a saffron nage with homemae gnocci and the Slow-roasted Pork Belly with crushed coriander, sweet potato mash, honey-soy dressing and pak choi tempura, you will have sampled a bit of heaven.

The dessert menu deserves a paragraph to describe, with delectable decadence like the Panna Cotta, layered with berry jelly and set on Frangelico syrup; Vanilla ice-cream served with sea salt and olive oil and Saszali hand-crafted chocolates.
