About Wine Tasting at La Chataigne

This boutique wine estate situated within the Franschhoek wine region only bottles a fraction of the grapes harvested on their farm. They produce about 15000 bottles per annum. All grapes are hand-picked and result in the tastiest of wines with fruity and elegant elements which can suit all pockets. No other wine can boast that its label has hand written on each and every bottle.

Taste red wines from their range such as the 2008 which is a blend of Merlot, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon with almonds, marzipan and raspberries on the nose which is matured for 12 months; the La Marron 2009 with has a cherry nose with light almond, full body and blackberry flavours. Their white wines include Semillon 2012 made from bush vines planted in 1942 with a full body and palate of summer fruits, La Chataigne Sauvignon Blanc 2012 with herbaceous aromas and a lingering guava aftertaste and the Kastanje 2012- a dry, fruity blend of Chenin Blanc and Semillon with a rich creamy nose and dominating peach characters.
