About Eikehof Wine Estate

The farm of Eikehof has been in the Malherbe family for four generations. It can be found near La- Motte and a little west of Franschhoek beneath the old oaks beside the R45. Francoise Malherbe still crafts magnificent wines in the same cellar his grandfather were used.

The 30 hectare farm grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon. The Semillon vines were first planted in 1902 and whilst they don’t vinify their own Semillon, they sell it to another produce in Franschhoek who in turn makes the best Semillon in the country. With an appointment you can visit the farm and stroll amidst the peach orchards lined up at Eikehof. The process of making their red wines includes minimal oaking which results in well-rounded wines which can be enjoyed young. Eikehof Chardonnay is unoaked and brings a lighter style to the table.
