When Michael and Kristina Pawlowski first came to South Africa, it was for a brief visit. But Franschhoek lured them in, like so many others and they set about making a home there. They bought several vineyards and luxury self-catering villas and turned La Chaumiere into a home and a place of comfort. It is still a working farm today. Like almost all of Franschhoek you will find a charm and rich Cape Dutch architecture on the farm. You’ll see spectacular mountains to one side and vineyards to the other which catch the light beautifully.

Taste the wines in their range such as the Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc MCC 2010, Pinot Noir 2011, Shiraz 2010 and Vineyard Selection (Red Blend). The Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc MCC 2010 has green lime and apricot on the nose with crisp acidity and perfect to pair with smoked salmon or oysters. The Pinot Noir with its black cherry, strawberry and meaty flavours can be matured for 5-6 years and is best served with duck, warthog of guinea fowl. Best you bring out the vineyard selection on a cold night in winter and serve it with a warm meal where its vanilla spice and berry fruit flavours can be best enjoyed.
