About Valley of Ferns Picnic Site
The Valley of Ferns picnic site is aptly titles, as it rest in a small valley. With its vast open grassy spaces, with trees creating shade, it is the perfect location for enjoying a picnic.
Enjoy relaxing in nature, while your children roam free and run off excess energy. There is a short 450m walk in the forest beneath the huge tree ferns and across little streams, on past mossy meadows, which can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The ground along the forest walk is often moist and slippery so please be careful on the roots, logs and slippery paths. There is also another walking path available, which leads up Spitskop, offering a slightly more strenuous walk.
This is a gravel road that will take you across main road away from the picnic site. Remember to take cameras - this is something you’ll want to capture and hold in your memories, it really is a delightful spot.
