The coastline of the Garden Route offers so many idyllic little beaches, hidden away from the buzz of the big city and lapped by the warm Indian Ocean waters. The Singing Kettle Beach is one of these little treasures, beckoning visitors from all over the world to explore its utter tranquillity.

It is an extension of the beautiful Keurbooms Beach, just outside the holiday hotspots of Keurbooms and Plettenberg Bay. One of its main attractions is Arch Rock. Visitors are invited to try to toss a stone through the hole at the top. If it goes in without touching the sides, the thrower is said to be in line for good luck.

While this beach is stunning simply to walk along, it also promises gorgeous views of the ocean as far as the horizon. The whales visit this part of South Africa every year between July and December, blowing out fountains and splashing their tails playfully for their human onlookers.

This area is close to the Keurbooms River and the mouth of the Maatjies River. These rivers are stunning to explore on a canoe or stand-up paddle (SUP) board. Keen anglers can also sit on the banks of these rivers or on the sandy shores of the Singing Kettle Beach and try their hand at catching some of the local fish. The renowned Enrico’s Restaurant overlooks the beach and promises some fantastic meals, cold beers and fabulous South African wines.

The Singing Kettle Beach and Keurbooms are situated along the scenic Garden Route of South Africa, which connects the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape provinces. The beach is about 6.5 hours from Cape Town and about two hours from Port Elizabeth.
