The Western Cape coastline of South Africa is peppered with stunning beaches that are secluded and serene, far away from the madding crowds of the metropolis. Along these shores is the little village of Stilbaai, where holiday homes are dotted between camp sites and beaches, and where quaint coffee shops and modern gin distilleries await visitors that just want to sit back and enjoy the beauty of the Western Cape.

Lappiesbaai Beach is one of the enticing beaches of Stilbaai, and has been awarded the status of a Blue Flag beach. Unspoilt sandy stretches are irresistible for visitors wanting to soak up the sun with a good book, and little ones that are dying to spend hours building sandcastles or throwing a Frisbee. The sea water is relatively warm, thanks to its being the Indian Ocean; making it ideal for swimming, surfing, kite-surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, hydrofoiling and snorkelling. Strolling along the beach is a favourite amongst visitors and locals alike, who should keep an eye out for the gorgeous pansy shells. Being a Blue Flag beach means that Lappiesbaai is equipped with information boards, ablutions, wheelchair facilities, and a convenient restaurant.

The whales make their appearance along this part of the coast every year between July and December. People watch from the coast as these southern rights and humpbacks blast water into the air, slap their flukes on the surface, and peep out inquisitively.

Stilbaai is situated between Riversdale and Mossel Bay, about five hours from Cape Town. It has all of the necessary amenities for tourists and is surrounded by pretty farmlands.
