The fabulous Fertile Foothills of Simonsberg Mountain hold the original farm previously known as Kleygat (Clay-hole), now known as Knorhoek. Back in 1793 when most of the land was acquired by Martin Melck, the original owner of Knorhoek, The Cape Mountain Lion, now extinct, used to roam the land preying on the livestock on the farm. There are still Caracal and Leopard sightings in the surrounding mountains hence the use of the Leopard on Knoerhoek Estate wine labels.
Knorhoek today is a sought after location to visit in a stunning setting with a lot to offer its fellow wine lovers. You can take part in a horseback wine trail in the morning or at sunset where you have the opportunity to ride through the vineyards and experience where the wine making begins. Relax in our tasting room with friendly, helpful staff and enjoy a fantastic selection of wine and cheese with your friends and family.
