Le Fournil de Plett Bakery & Café

Le Fournil de Plett, Bakery and Café is housed in a sweet little nook in the Lookout Centre Courtyard. Famous for their variety of slow-risen artisan breads, baked daily using stone-ground flour, Le Fournil also offers plenty of other scrumptious goodies on their French influenced menu.

South African breakfast favourites are served with the Le Fournil flair, from their Tartine English breakfast, to their Croissant Croque, Le Chocolat Chaud – and the most delicious croissants. You’ll have a hard time deciding whether to order the petit pain au chocolat, croissant aux amandes or the croissant au beurre – so we suggest you order them all, and take the any remaining pastries home!

Escaping the usual suspects, Le Fournil delights with their scrummy sandwiches, including the chicken tandoori; smoked salmon with cream cheese; roast beef and wholegrain mustard or roasted aubergine and courgettes with sundried tomatoes, pecorino and rocket.

Light lunch options include peri-peri chicken liver salad; haloumi niçoise and the lip-smacking grilled sirloin steak, served with roasted veg and polenta. The tartines are a treat, including roast beef, cheese; salmon and vegetarian options, and for those with more of an appetite, the calamari tempura; fish and chips; prego roll and the vol-au-vent should satisfy any cravings. Round off the experience with lemon tart or chocolate fondant with coffee, and relax.
