About Mont Rochelle Vineyards

The vineyards of Mont Rochelle are nestled against the Klein Dassenberg Mountains and were first planted in 1994. Their 150 year old wine cellar began as a fruit packing shed used by early settlers in the valley, which can now produce 110 tons of grapes. 2001 saw Miko Rwayitare become the first Black African to own a wine farm when he purchased Mont Rochelle.

Visit their tasting centre for traditional wine tastings including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon or any of their boutique varieties such as Mouvedre, Petit Verdot, Viognier and the newly grafted Semillon. Cellar tours and gourmet tastings are also on offer whereby the latter sees their chefs pair the perfect dish with four of their wines.

Their country kitchen restaurant is perfect for relaxed dining and lunches in the garden, whilst Mange Tout brings French style cooking and fine dining together in a splendid way. Picnic beside the dam, stroll through the vineyards or plant your very own olive tree. Owner, Erwin Schnitzler aims to minimize the carbon footprint of Mont Rochelle and sees planting trees as a great way to do so. With each olive tree planted, you as a guest can contribute to green one small corner of the earth.
