About La Couronne Wine Estate

La Couronne is a name meaning “The Crown” which was a famous French warship built by the French Navy in 1636 which transported 277 French Huguenots to the Cape in 1685. La Couronne was the first warship built by the French as Cardinal de Richelieu's aimed to renew the French Navy. The ship was one of the most advanced of her time and boasted 68 heavy guns.

The farm is nestled against the Klein Dassenberg Mountain along the Robertsvlei Road, with picturesque views of vineyards, Franschhoek Mountains and the Berg River flowing through it. Wine connoisseurs, tourists and families alike can enjoy a visit to this relaxing estate and taste varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the newly-opened wine tasting centre, host a conference in their business facilities, stay over in their country style accommodation at Le Chais Villa or choose this estate to celebrate their wedding day.
