About Pearl Valley on Val de Vie Estate

The Pearl Valley course is enchantingly beautiful. Arguably the most scenic course in the Southern Hemisphere, if not the world, Pearl Valley is located between the magnificent Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountain Range’s and shares its borders with two of the most well-known and picturesque winemaking towns in the Cape - Paarl and Franschhoek.

Everything about Pearl Valley is post-card perfect. From the vineyards and orchards that border the course to the mighty Berg River flowing through it to the mountainous backdrops of every hole. Every inch of the Estates 212 hectares can be summed up as exclusive. Playing a game here out in the tranquil surroundings, breathing in the sights and tasting the clear air is an experience that every golfer deserves.

Designed by “the most influential man in Golf,” Jack Nicklaus’s signature markings can be felt throughout the course. Having relatively flat terrain as his canvas, Nicklaus has succeeded in creating an exciting course through which the golfers need to think their ways. The state of the art drainage system that was implemented has resulted in a waiting time of mere minutes, after the heavens have opened up, before golfers can resume their games.

Opened by the two golfing greats, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, in 2003; Pearl Valley has not once taken to compliance. Always improving and with constant attention to detail they have won accolade after accolade almost every year over the last decade. US Masters Champion Trevor Immelman has said that "the fairways at Pearl Valley are some of, if not the best, he has ever played on.

Incredibly scenic and challenging water hazards, lush fairways and greens as well as 81 white river sand bunkers have turned this championship course into one of the most exciting ever built.

Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your hotel or accommodation in Franschhoek and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.
