About George Airport
With around 800 000 travellers passing through George Airport, it is certainly a busy one; if a little smaller than those in the big cities. George is on the Garden Route, about halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). This means that it’s in the prime position to access accommodation on the Garden Route and in these big epicentres.

Flights are from George to Cape Town International Airport and the OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). There are also cargo flights via BidAir Cargo to Johannesburg.
It has won the Airports Council International’s award for best airport in Africa for fewer than 2 million passengers per year no fewer than six times.
It has a fair amount of parking available and several fast-food outlets for a tasty breakfast and a cup of coffee while waiting for flights or for your passengers to land. Shops here include sweet and snack spots as well as outlets for fashion accessories.
This airport was established in 1977 and was called P.W. Botha, after a state president.
Thanks to its convenient location, it is ideal for people living anywhere between Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay, and for tourists that are staying in Garden Route accommodation.
