About King David Golf Club

Just off Approach Road, which takes you to Cape Town’s International Airport, and dating back to 1956, with one of the most wonderfully colourful histories of all the Cape’s Golf Courses, is The King David Golf Club. Bob Grimsdel, the leading course architect of the age, designed the course to such incredibly high standards that only very few changes have had to be made over the years.

The club hit a speed bump during the seventies which saw them having to take a long and hard period of reflection but with true character and determination the management saw fit to modernise facilities and put a few necessary upgrades into place. The outcome was so successful that South African golfing legend, Gary Player, who has over 100 national and international titles to his name, went as far as saying that their Par 3 12th Hole is one of the best Par 3’s he has ever played.

King David is an 18 hole championship course that has stunning backdrops of Table Mountain and Devils Peak.

The course has many doglegs, is well bunkered and the four water hazards will have you thinking. Fairways are lined with the mighty Bluegum and the course abounds in other flora and fauna too, providing the perfect escape from the bustling city life without having to go far at all. Little wonder then that K.D is referred to by the cape golfing fraternity as its the best kept secret.

Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your hotel or accommodation in Cape Town and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.

Visitors are warmly welcomed and encouraged to bring their best. Facilities include a car wash, bag drop, pro shop, driving range, practice greens, halfway house, bar and lounge.
