About Stony Brook Vineyards

If you’re a lover of personal, intimate wine tastings at boutique wine estates, but expect nothing less than a wine which will leave you coming back from more, then a visit to stony Brook vineyards is a must. This is a family-run estate in Franschhoek where owners, Nigel and Joy McNaught, founded the estate to satisfy their love of premium wines.

They produce many different wines in small quantities and their flagship is the ‘Ghost Gum’, a Cabernet-based Bordeaux-style blend which is named after a 150-year-old tree on the farm. This premium label has spent 32 months in new French oak and whilst enjoying your glass, you can spot the old tree from the tasting area. This is a farm that prides itself in the environmentally-friendly way in which it produces wine and strives towards minimizing its carbon footprint.

On the lower slopes of the mountain below the picturesque dam, you’ll find five self-catering cottages to entice you to enjoy more time on the farm. The owners often serve you as guests and take you through the tasting and many who have visited, say they felt like they were visiting friends and sipping delicious wine.
