Le Pommier meaning ‘The Apple Tree’ in French is situated on the 300 year old Zorgvliet farm and used to be an apple orchard. The farm was first granted to an Austrian mercenary soldier, Casper Wilders, who was employed with the Dutch East Indian Company. Johannes Mukder took over ownership in 1703. Some of their wines include Le Pommier Sauvignon Blanc, Le Pommier Unwooded Chardonnay, Le Pommier Malbec Cabernet Franc Rosé and Le Pommier Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.
It’s been said that you can sample the flavour of Le Pommier through its delicious wines. The Le Pommier Malbec is personified by mischievous Jonathan who broke into the vineyard and consumed most of the harvest. Enjoy his favourite cultivar and his legacy, Jonathan Malbec 2009. The Le Pommier Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2008 is an easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed with lamb dishes, beef dishes or your favourite steak.
When visiting this charming wine estate, stay in their country lodge, dine in their rustic, South African restaurant or escape in the tranquillity of their spa. A day here is not really enough. Experience wine tasting in the wine lounge, picnic outdoors and experience treatments adapted to the Winelands including grape extracts.
