Just out of the awesome holiday town of Knysna lies the Grootdraai Picnic Site. As its name implies, it is situated on the "big turn" of the Kom-se-Pad Loop, just outside the magnificent Gouna Forest.
The picnic site is equipped with wooden tables and benches, barbecue facilities, fresh water, and rustic bush toilets.
There is no cost to enter the facilities. However, a self-issued permit is required for those wanting to do the Terblans Hiking Trail, which starts at the picnic site and takes walkers on a 6.5 kilometre walk through the forests of the Western Cape.
The Kom-se-Pad Loop is a 50 kilometre route that is popular amongst cyclists. The views are stunning and the gravel road is manageable in a normal sedan.
