About Sylvanvale Vineyards

Grapes have been grown on this property since the 1960’s and to this day, harbours some of the best vineyards in the region. These vineyards surround the historic hotel called the Devon Valley Hotel which was built in 1947. This hotel is an iconic Stellenbosch landmark.

The wines produced on this land belong to the Louis family who own Louis Group International which is a family-owned, third generation, entrepreneurial organisation with operations spanning Europe and Africa. These handmade boutique wines include a Pinotage Reserve, dry Rose from Cabernet Sauvignon and a dry Chenin Blanc.

Like many vineyards in this region, the rich soils lend itself to fine Pinotage, cabernet and Chenin Blanc cultivars. Behind the wine production is viticulturalist, Lorna Hughes. The wine was once produced in the Devoncrest cellar, but come 2003, this has been moved to Monterosso where Mark Carmichael-Green fills the position as winemaker.
