About Wilderness Island Lake

Welcome to fishermens paradise at Wilderness Island Lake. The Touw and Serpentine river merge further up the lake offering anglers a great habitat to explore.

You can snorkel in the Touw river which is crystal clear and is roughly 3 meters deep where you can see a mixture of salt water fish and freshwater fish swimming together, some being Cape Moonies, Leeries, Mullet and Grunter.

Although some fishing can be done from the lake edge it is advisable to get a canoe to travel further out for a better catch. Paddling on Island Lake is enjoyed by many and is a popular sport in the area. The bird life is extraordinary and it is worth bringing your binoculars and your camera long with you.
