This beautiful, endangered bird has a population of less than 5000 adults and is characterised by red eyes and eye rings and completely dark plumage. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to spot on of these magnificent birds in flight when you visit Calypso Beach in Langebaan.

If birds are not your thing, not to worry because this isn’t all that this beach has to offer. Swimming and body surfing is blissful in the water because there are no currents. After a long day in the sun when you start to feel a bit peckish you can make your way into town an visit one of Langebaan's Restaurants or sip an ice cold beer at a beach bar.
