About Gonana Guesthouse
Gonana Guest House is situated in the small bay of Bekbaai in the quieter part of Paternoster on the Cape West Coast of South Africa. Bordered by the Columbine Nature Reserve and a few kilometers from the Cape Columbine Lighthouse, this holiday accommodation was originally a family home and has now been completely transformed to a beautiful home away from home.
Accommodation
At Gonana Guest House high ceilings, skylights and huge sash windows let in light, beauty and inspiration from the views of the ocean or the mountain or the pool.
Each room has its own private veranda for lazy evenings with a glass of wine. All rooms are en-suite and are equipped with extra-long and wide mattresses for gentle comfort and wellbeing. A safe and Wi-Fi are standard.
The bathrooms of this eco-friendly guest house use grey water. Rainwater is collected in tanks and used to top up the pool. Hot water is obtained from solar energy (and there's plenty of sun in South Africa) and water-saving showers are installed for guiltless showering.
The heart of the guest house is upstairs in the enormous lounge overlooking the sea. Here a cosy fireplace warms up the room (and your mood) on windy days. The outdoor verandah is ideal for sunset drinks and hot mornings when you need shade. The driftwood communal breakfast table belonged to the previous owner and is now the centre of new friendships and reconnecting. Here you can eat breakfast whilst admiring the sea views and preparing for another day in paradise. There is no Wi-Fi in this area to promote tranquillity and peace.

Pets
We only have two pet friendly rooms, so prior arrangement is necessary. A once off pet deposit of R200 is payable on arrival.
The Area
Surrounded by fynbos, wheat fields in winter, and wild flowers in spring, Paternoster is also a favourite amongst snorkelers, experienced divers, kite surfers and flyers, hikers, bikers, and kayakers. And only 5 minutes away is the Cape Columbine Nature reserve which is home to an abundance of flora and fauna as well as the last manned lighthouse in South Africa which was built on Castle Rock in 1936.
