About Ruitersvlei Wines
Johannes Albertus Faure made a wise choice in 1862 when he settled in this corner of Africa with his family. A place with rich soils, long summer days, winter rainfall and a Mediterranean climate; this is where Ruitersvlei was born. Its history dates back to 1688 and was a well-kept secret of the Paarl region for many years.
The views from this estate are unparalleled as you can catch a glimpse of Table Mountain, Simonsberg and the Franschhoek valley too. One the slopes of the Paarl Mountains where the cool Atlantic Ocean breezes touch the vines, excellent ports and wines have been produced for ages. The estate is beside the 2200 hectare Paarl Mountain Reserve. You’ll find dams on the farm as well as the world second largest granite outcrop.
Enjoy any number of outdoor activities such as hiking, birding, fishing, horse riding and mountain biking right next door. Due to the ideal climate of this region, red wines bursting with flavour and elegant white wines spring forth from this estate. There’s an easy-drinking Mountainside Range as well as the more, robust Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. But one thing for sure, you’ll find the perfect Ruitersvlei wine for you and the occasion.
