About Lemberg Wine Estate
Cupped within the bowl of the Great Winterhoek and Witzenberg Mountains, is where you’ll find the Lemberg Wine Estate. Winemaker, Janey Muller, established Lemberg in 1978 and became known for their Sauvignon Blanc, Harslevelu and for being one of the smallest cellars in South Africa in the 1980’s. New German owners, Klaus und Uschi Schindler, took over the farm in 1994.
When they arrived, they expanded by building a new wine cellar, planting new vines and rondavel guesthouse. They have a 60 ton cellar where small quantities of Estate Pinot noir, Pinotage, Syrah and a Sauvignon Blanc are produced from naturally dried grapes. Current bottled vintages include a Pinotage and Pinot Noir vineyards blend from the 2009 vintage, a 2010 Sauvignon blanc, a 2011 Syrah blanc de noir with only 11.5% alcohol and a 2012 Pinotage.
1200 vines of Harslevelu will be re-introduced to the farm in 2012 along with Viognier. When you come for a wine tasting, you can order a cheese platter or enjoy lunch in the barrel cellar. You can also reserve a small rowing boat and take your loved one out on the dam for sunset.
