Cramond, Natal Midlands
The small town of Cramond is situated close to Albert Falls in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is, officially, part of the UMgungundlovu District Municipality. This province is a popular tourist destination as Durban (its capital) is home to the King Shaka International Airport, and there is an abundance of attractions and activities to be found. These range from urban epicentres and business hubs to vast tracts of open countryside and quaint seaside villages.
Cramond is part of this variety. It is located less than three kilometres from the scenic Albert Falls Dam, which is one of the top bass fishing dams on the planet. This dam is situated within the Albert Falls Dam Nature Reserve, which is home to a large variety of South African faunal and floral species, delighting visitors that get to enjoy them up close. It is also just over four kilometres from the little area of Zeekoegat and is about a 30-minute drive away from Pietermaritzburg.
Visitors to Cramond are encouraged to spend the day enjoying watersports (sailing, canoeing and fishing) at the Albert Falls Dam when they are not exploring the local landscape on the various cycling and hiking trails. The many avian species make Cramond a bird-watcher's destination of choice.

Cramond is one of those places that when you first visit you always want to return to feel the beautiful atmosphere and wonderful friendship of the locals. The area is surrounded by lush green sugar cane and timber plantations. This small but quint village comprises of a police station, church, (soon to be provided) Muslim prayer hall, clinic, post office, a newly built school, a well stocked general dealer store and a service station, built around the heart of the village.... a railway siding. One of the sites to behold is to see the train winding its way down with the from the top of the ridge into Cramond with its load of timber and sugar cane. A truly "kodak moment". The location of a new housing development has fabulous views of the Albert Falls Dams and the Bon Accorde Resort which a is mere 250mets. My Ideal place of retirement God Willing.
