About Copperleigh Trout Cottages

Situated on a working sheep and cattle farm in upper Dargle, Copperleigh Trout Cottages boasts two beautifully decorated modern self-catering holiday homes, overlooking the calm waters of Mavela Dam. The dam is stocked with trout by the NFFC (Natal Fly Fishers Club) on an annual basis and is a fly fisherman's delight.

Self Catering Accommodation

The Lodge:
The Lodge has three bedrooms upstairs. Two bedrooms have Queen-size beds and feature ceiling fans, electric blankets and hairdryers. The loft room has a bunk bed and Queen-size bed perfect for four children sharing. The two bathrooms each feature a shower and toilet, the master bedroom has a heated towel rail.

There is an open plan lounge, dining room and fully equipped self catering kitchen on the ground floor, including dishwasher and washing machine.

The lounge is equipped with a flat-screen TV which includes DStv Premium and a DVD player with a large movie selection. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also included. Large wood burning fireplace for use on chilly evenings.

Complimentary bundle of firewood is included daily, additional firewood can be purchased from management. The lounge opens out onto the verandah which has a braai and a beautiful large garden to relax in.

Cabin:
Guests have fallen in love with this cosy self catering log Cabin built quite literally on the waters edge! Featuring one bedroom with a Queen-size bed, electric blanket and hairdryer with en-suite bathroom (includes a heated towel rail, shower and toilet).

It also has an open plan lounge and a beautifully equipped kitchen. Flat-screen TV with movie selection included, WiFi and Android TV apps (DStv Now, Youtube). The braai area is outside and overlooks the dam, firewood provided daily. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, this is the place to choose!

Fishing & Other Activities

Guests have free access to the 10ha Mavela Dam. Please remember to bring your own fly fishing rods and equipment to fish for trout. No additional catch fees if using your own equipment.

There are some short walks you can take on the farm, with amazing views of Inhlosane Mountain and the upper Dargle countryside to be seen.

The sheep can be seen going out to pasture at 07h30 and returning in the late afternoon. There are also other farm animals which include chickens, bunnies and ducks for the kids to see.

Kayaks to go paddling out on the dam with (please bring own life jackets) and some tubes for kids to swim in the dam with.
