Heron at Beacon Vlei offers accommodation in Balgowan with unrivalled views over our 23 hectare private dam, and the surrounding wetland area, which is home to hundreds of beautiful bird species, as well as a few large mammals.

Self Catering Accommodation

Heron at Beacon Vlei cottage sleeps five guests in two bedrooms. Both rooms are furnished with a King-size bed and each have an en-suite bathroom. One of the bathrooms is fitted with a bath, separate walk-in shower, toilet and basin and the other bathroom is fitted with a large walk-in shower, toilet and basin. There is a mattress for a fifth guest.

The central room consists of an open plan kitchen, dining and living room which opens out onto the veranda looking over our 23 hectare private dam. The central room has a large face brick fireplace and a TV with DStv.

The patio has dam views and comes equipped with braai facilities.

Pets

Small pets allowed for a fee per pet per night, one pet per cottage.

Recreation

Guests need not leave the farm to enjoy Bass fishing, birding, boating or a picnic after a leisurely walk around beautiful Beacon Vlei. Other outdoor activities that can be arranged in the surrounding countryside include, mountain biking, horse riding, canopy tours, battlefield tours and even paragliding.

Our 23 hectare private dam provides excellent Bass fishing for all levels of ability, we provide boats for guests to use and life jackets, please bring your own rods and tackle. Although bass can be caught throughout the year, the best times for fishing are from September until May.
